PAKISTAN: PEACEFUL PROTEST IN MULTAN AGAINST ALTAF HUSSAIN’S ANTI-STATE REMARKS
The Chief of Pakistan’s Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) enflamed anger among many voters with his recent remarks suggesting Karachi should separate from the rest of Pakistan and is alleged to have spouted hate speech (see link below). This gave rise to protests, petitions, and calls to arrest him in England where he now resides. The demonstration below took place in Multan on 13th May 2013

INTRODUCTION FROM AKMAN SALEEM
Election results were all over media the night after elections, when Altaf Hussain in his telephonic address (while responding to the rigging allegations on MQM in Karachi) said “Separate Karachi from Pakistan if you hate our mandate” and also threatened peaceful Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protestors at Teen-Talwar Karachi (the party led by Imran Khan). Altaf Hussains’s statement took Pakistan by storm and was condemned on the main stream and social media. The protest in Multan was a part of nationwide protests against Altaf Hussain in which the patriots made speeches, raised slogans & demanded for an apology from MQM in general and Altaf himself.
THE FOLLOWING WORDS FROM FAISA BATOOL
Refusing to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word, This though brought me out of my comfort zone to stand with those have courage to take up an initiative who tell the World that YES WE CAN ! and this bought me to my first experience of a political rally…..
With a strong statement of unity and a loud roar for brotherhood- it was a contentment watching the Youth of Pakistan standing for their brother in Karachi, sending them the vibes of consciousness of not being alone. It was a “must have” experience, when people passing by leave their commitments to hold your hand and join you. When kids look up to you with hope filled expressions and promising gestures that they will take up what we are doing today.
